The Next Day του David Bowie

The Next Day- O David Bowie έχει κέφια και επιστέφει ροκάροντας την επόμενη μέρα. 

 

«The Next Day» ονομάζεται το νέο άλμπουμ του David Bowie. Πρόκειται για το εικοστό τέταρτο άλμπουμ του Βρετανού David Bowie, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε στις 8 Μαρτίου 2013 με την εταιρεία  ISO Records ιδιοκτησίας του Bowie με την εποπτεία της Columbia Records. Η κυκλοφορία του άλμπουμ ανακοινώθηκε την ημέρα των εξηκοστών έκτων γενεθλίων του καλλιτέχνη στις 8 Ιανουαρίου 2013, εκπλήττοντας τους οπαδούς του, οι οποίοι πίστευαν ότι δεν θα κυκλοφορούσε νέο άλμπουμ ξανά ο καλλιτέχνης.  

Πρόκειται για το πρώτο άλμπουμ του Bowie με νέο υλικό, δέκα χρόνια μετά το άλμπουμ Reality του 2003. 

Το «The Next Day» είναι το πρώτο νούμερο ένα άλμπουμ του Bowie στην Βρετανία μετά το  Black Tie White Noise του 1993.  

Ο Bowie εργάστηκε μακριά από τα βλέμματα της δημοσιότητας, μαζί με τον παραγωγό Tony Visconti και τον μηχανικό Mario J. McNulty, ηχογραφώντας το άλμπουμ αυτό μέσα σε περίοδο δύο χρόνων. Όμως οι ηχογραφήσεις και τα sessions γίνονταν σποραδικά και οVisconti υπολόγισε ότι μόνο τρείς μήνες χρειάστηκαν για να ολοκληρωθούν τα ντέμο και οι ηχογραφήσεις.

Στις αρχικές ηχογραφήσεις ο Sterling Campbell ήταν στα drums, οVisconti  στο μπάσο, ο  Bowie στα keyboards και ο Gerry Leonard στην κιθάρα. 

Να θυμίσουμε ότι ο Bowie συνεργήσετε για πρώτη φορά με τονVisconti το 1969 στο Space Oddity. Δούλεψαν μαζί σε αρκετά άλμπουμ του Bowie συμπεριλαμβανομένων των άλμπουμ Low, Heroes, Lodger και Scary Monsters. Μετά από μια μακρά περίοδο, συνεργάστηκαν ξανά αρχές του 2000 στα άλμπουμ Heathen και Reality.

Το άλμπουμ περιλαμβάνει νέο υλικό με αρκετό rock ήχο. Το πρώτο σιγκλ είναι η μπαλάντα "Where Are We Now?", το οποίο διάλεξε ο Bowie για να προετοιμάσει τους οπαδούς του ότι επιστρέφει μετά από 10 χρόνια απουσίας. Το τραγούδι αποτελεί αναδρομή στο διάστημα που πέρασε ο τραγουδιστής στο Βερολίνο τη δεκαετία του 70 και συνοδεύεται από μαυρόασπρο βίντεο κλιπ με πλάνα της πόλης πριν από την επανένωσή της.  

Στις 26 Φεβρουαρίου κυκλοφορεί σαν δεύτερο σίγκλ το "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)", με την συνοδεία μίας μικρής σε διάρκεια ταινίας από την προηγούμενη μέρα της κυκλοφορίας του.  

Στο τραγούδι συναντάμε τον Bowie στην ακουστική κιθάρα με αναφορές στην διασημότητα και την μοίρα.

To Love is Lost είναι ίσως η «σκοτεινότερη στιγμή» του άλμπουμ.  

Στο Where are we now? Ο καλλιτέχνης δεν φοβάται να δείξει την τρυφερότητα που έρχεται με την ηλικία. 

Στο VALENTINE’S DAY παρόλο τον ρομαντικό τίτλο ασχολείται με «high school shooting».

Στο I’D RATHER BE HIGH με τον στίχο “I’d rather be dead or out of my head” βγαίνει μια κραυγή στα ριφς που παραπέμπει σε Achilles’ Last Stand των Zeppelin.

Στο BOSS OF ME φαίνεται η επιρροή από Bruce Springsteen και στο "I'd Rather Be High" αναφέρεται σε μία ιστορία στρατιώτη στον δεύτερο παγκόσμιο πόλεμο. 

Το εξώφυλλο του άλμπουμ είναι μια προσαρμογή του εξωφύλλου του άλμπουμ του  Bowie "Heroes"  από το 1977.

Irish Bands- Saint Patrick's - Day Ημέρα του Αγίου Πατρικίου

 

Στις 17 Μαρτίου, γιορτάζεται η σημαντικότερη γιορτή της Ιρλανδίας, η γιορτή του Αγίου Πατρικίου με  μία σειρά εκδηλώσεων που διαρκούν μέχρι και 4 ημέρες. Η γιορτή αυτή καθιερώθηκε τον 17ο αιώνα, για να τιμήσει τον άγιο προστάτη της Ιρλανδίας  τον Άγιο Πατρίκιο, αλλά επίσης και την άφιξη του χριστιανισμού στη χώρα. Σύμβολο της γιορτής αυτής αποτελεί το εθνικό σύμβολο της Ιρλανδίας, το τριφύλλι, το οποίο σύμφωνα με το θρύλο, χρησιμοποιούσε ο Άγιος Πατρίκιος για να εξηγήσει στους Ιρλανδούς την Αγία Τριάδα.

 

Με αφορμή αυτό το γεγονός μεταδώσαμε την Τρίτη 19 Μαρτίου 2013 Ιρλανδούς καλλιτέχνες και συγκροτήματα.
